Matias Bach
Bio
Matias Bach was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1970. After having lived in Brussels and Vienna, he is now based in Hamburg, Germany.
He graduated from the University of Buenos Aires in 1992 with a degree in Graphic Design and worked as a teacher in the same university from 1993 to 1997. As a consultant and free-lance designer he has undertaken a variety of jobs that range from small companies’ requests to large corporations’ projects in several areas of Graphic Design.
Facing Earth Project
Since 2017 he has worked on his “Facing Earth Project”, a way to capture different portions of our world on a 1 :1 scale. Portions range from 2 to 4 square meters and are reproduced by a set of photographs. The aim is not to have a technically exact reproduction of the place but to transfer the essence of one place (e.g. a forest), to another totally different (e.g. a home) in life-size scale.

His aim is to extend this project to different types of surfaces that symbolize both natural or man-made places around the world.
